Richard Shaw

An award-winning executive producer and innovative marketing strategist, Richard's nearly 30 years of experience has encompassed communication projects for technology companies, television networks, government agencies, the hospitality industry and non-profit organizations.  He has been an advocate for the benefits of rail transportation to mass audiences through several of the most popular rail travel series on television.

Richard was the creative vision and Executive Producer of the immensely successful Railway Adventures series in Europe, Canada (Ribbons of Steel) and Australia. The three series were produced by his company, Network Programs International, in partnership with local production companies and program funders in each country.

The TV shows and home videos promoted commuter and long distance rail travel to large audiences and high ratings, crossing all demographics on TV networks including national PBS, The Travel Channel, Life Network and many others across the globe.

Richard has also conceptualized and implemented highly successful multi-platform national marketing projects—built around video programs—for the technology sector.  For Motorola SPS, he distributed their microchip revolution documentary, Seed to Semiconductor, to The Discovery Channel.  Produced and directed by Media People International, Richard developed a collateral print campaign for the broadcast to support Motorola's B2B business and regional sales offices.

He then distributed the show to The Learning Channel and developed a multi-media promotional campaign to coincide with the annual college recruitment wars, earning Motorola access to top-tier college graduates and rankings far ahead of most competitors.  He later distributed Seed on targeted PBS stations, developing a campaign to alert the media and key legislative leaders to new legislation preventing chip dumping in the U.S. by foreign manufacturers.

Mr. Shaw has been involved with many communication and marketing projects for a diversity of government and private sector clients, including production and updates of marketing videos for the Port of Long Beach, which were translated into 6 foreign languages; co-creator and Executive Producer of the Bob Mann Golf TV series; distribution of 2001: Imagine the Possibilities to The Discovery Channel for a joint venture of AT&T and GTE; wrote and produced a meeting planner CD-ROM for The Coast Long Beach Hotel; and developed print and online marketing materials and press releases with the County of San Diego as Executive Director of the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce.
